Dion. A tragedy, [19th century].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of a five-act play set in "Syracuse, and the adjacent country" which concerns the overthrow of the tyrant Dionysus and concludes with the death of the hero Dion, his son, and daughter-in-law. The play's characters include a ghost who informs Dion of his impending death. Prefaced by a prologue in verse which asks "ye critics, who with gall are ever cram'd" to take the author's youth into account "ere ye discharge your poet-killing bawls."
